We're
running out of trees!
If you consider
that we go through around nine billion greetings cards each
year in both the United States and the United Kingdom it's
easy to imagine how many trees are ravaged from the
earth to produce these paper cards, trees that are
often needed to sustain the local environment, including the
wildlife and eco system, not to mention adding beauty and
definition to our earth. See our article "That's
Not A Proper Card - It's Not Made Of Paper!" for
further reading.
Sending Holiday
cards is not something that is likely to go out of fashion
any time soon - if ever. We send greetings to each other on
occasions such as mothers day, fathers day, valentines day,
birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas - the usual suspects
- adding to this the host of other occasions we create and
celebrate in our highly sociable and caring society.
It's always nice
to be remembered, sending and receiving greetings are good
ways to do this but is it really necessary to continue to
destroy our environment to keep up this happy tradition?
...The
answer is a very loud NO!
Today we have choices
like never before, options to send greetings without the environmental
fallout, choices to remember our loved ones in unique and
entertaining ways. We can send Digital e-cards with pictures
of OUR choice, cards that talk, video cards, living cards,
the possibilities are becoming endless in our high tech' new
age.
Electronic cards
- e-cards - are transmitted via email. Not only is this the
eco-friendly choice but it is far easier on the purse and
much more convenient. Think about it - no paper, no ink, no
envelope, no stamp, no postman! You don't even have to pay,
though sending quality e-cards usually involves some
cost but you'll discover it's far less than the traditional
methods and far more adaptable to your personal wants. See
our resources below.
